歌曲解析

　　《Living on a prayer》是 Bon Jovi 一炮而紅的成名曲。裡邊講的是一對為愛情而不屈不撓的年輕人同殘酷冷血的現實做鬥爭，從而捍衛自己愛情的故事，歌詞中的Tommy和Gina其實就是Bon和他妻子的化身。

　　他曾經很艱難地謀生。他當過清潔工，打掃洗手間。還在鞋店當過售貨員，幫顧客換鞋。不記得是在哪一個訪問上，主持人問他是否賣過鞋子，他承認了。結果被要求表演如何賣鞋，他真的跑去單膝跪地給一個女歌迷穿鞋子，很搞笑。他明白現實而卑微的生活是怎樣的……

　　正由於這樣，《Livin' on a prayer》裡才說it's tough, so tough（生活如此艱苦），但是他的wife是知足的，她說：我們應該珍惜所擁有的，成功與否並不重要，擁有彼此便已足夠（We've got to hold on to what we've got，'Cause it doesn't make a difference If we make it or not）。

　　而Bon是樂觀的，湯米輕聲說：親愛的沒關係，有一天我們會成功。（Tommy whispers: Baby it's okay, someday）既然生來注定就得打拚，我們一定要撐下去，無論願意與否。相信當時BON的妻子聽到這句話應該對自己的愛人，有著無比的信心，果然BON最終成功了。
